All I want for Christmas is… my Own Art
Christmas is a time for enjoyment and reflection and what better way to celebrate the festive season than with a unique piece of art. Owning your very own masterpiece has never been easier with the Scottish Arts Council’s Own Art scheme.
Loans are available from as little as £100 up to £2,000 and the amount you borrow is then paid back over ten months in equal amounts, with no interest (typical 0% APR). There are no extra costs and the loan amount can go towards a work of art that costs more than £2,000. Participating galleries offer paintings, sculptures, prints, photography, jewellery, metalwork, ceramics, glass, furniture, textiles, and more.
Currently, approximately 40 galleries across Scotland participate in the Own Art scheme, and the Scottish Arts Council is continually expanding the number of galleries taking part. We spoke to two leading galleries for a sneak preview of their Christmas stock…

DCA works directly with major artists selected through the curatorial programme to develop limited edition artworks in collaboration with the DCA Print Studio team. All editions are available exclusively from DCA and offer an opportunity to acquire artwork by innovative contemporary artists, as well as supporting the venue's future programme.

DCA
DCA Print Studio is a leading space for visual artists at different stages in their careers to develop their skills and understanding of contemporary printmaking. Currently showing (14 November - 10 January) in the Print Space above DCA Shop is a selection of work by some of the many artists who use this facility to produce original artworks in media such as etching, lithography and screenprint. These are available framed and unframed to take away immediately.
DCA Shop has a great selection of craft, showcasing national talent and emerging local makers. Jewellery by established artists such as Alison Macleod, Nuala Jamison, Miranda Sharpe and Grainne Morton offers the chance to invest in something that will always be treasured.
Peacock Visual Arts
Peacock Visual Arts is an educational charity and the main contemporary visual arts organisation in Aberdeen and the North-east of Scotland and is supported by Aberdeen City Council and the Scottish Arts Council.
Originally having started as a printmaking studio in 1974, Peacock Visual Arts has gained international recognition for its own work and as one of the pillars of Scotland's unique thriving printmaking culture.
